On the afternoon of 9 June, The 82500 DWT bulk carrier “AOM PIERA” built by YAMIC departed from the shipyard wharf and started her maiden voyage.

The “AOM PIERA” measures 229.00m in length, 32.26m in breadth, 20.15m in depth with design draft of 14.55m, and was constructed in accordance with the rules and regulations of NK. The construction period of this vessel was approximately 10 months. The vessel conducted her massive steel cutting on 8 August 2025 and successfully completed its sea trial on 20 May 2026, with all performance indicators better than the design standards.

On the morning of 9 June, YAMIC held a grand naming ceremony for the shipowner’s same series vessels, the “AOM PIERA” and the “AOM ANA MARIA”. Mr. Raffaele Zagari, CEO of the Augustea Group, Mr. Giuseppe Azzarelli, Director of AOM Malta, Ms. Piera Verde, General Manager of Iblea Ship Management, Mr. Yoshimasa Abe, Director of GRACE OCEAN, Mr. Masakuni Oketani from Ship Business Div. of Mitsui & Co., Mr. Hideaki Omori, Executive Vice President of OMC, Mr. Masakatsu Tsuru, Vice President of ClassNK(China), Mr. Song Shuming, Deputy General Manager of YZJ Group and CEO of YAMIC, as well as representatives from all cooperation parties and employees, attended the naming ceremony.

At the ceremony, Mr. Giuseppe Azzarelli, the godfather, and Ms. Piera Verde, the naming sponsor of the “AOM PIERA”; Mr. Federico D’Aiuto, the godfather, and Ms. Paola D’Aiuto, the naming sponsor of the “AOM ANA MARIA”, each christened their respective vessels and performed the ribbon-cutting and tossed the champagne for the new vessel. Wish the new vessel safe voyages and smooth operations, bringing good luck, creating wealth to the buyers, earning honor for NK and YAMIC.

At 8:35 a.m. on 9 June, both parties signed the delivery documents for the “AOM PIERA”. Wish her safe voyages with full cargoes!
