YAMIC delivered the fourth 66,000DWT bulk carrier to Bangladeshi shipowner
At 10 a.m. on May 29th, YAMIC successfully delivered the fourth 66,000 DWT bulk carrier "MEGHNA PROGRESS" (flying the Bangladeshi flag) built for a Bangladeshi shipowner MEGHNA. The delivery ceremony was attended by representatives from the MEGHNA Group, including Chairman Mostafa Kamal, Vice Chairman Beauty Akther, CFO Yousuf Ali, and Project Manager S M Shahan Shah from the on-site supervision team, as well as Mr. Song Shuming, Deputy General Manager of our group and General Manager of YAMIC, CFO HidekuniNebashi, Deputy General Manager Chen Guoqiang, and General Manager Assistant Shinichi Nakao.
At 10:30 a.m. on the same day, a grand naming ceremony was held for the new vessel in collaboration with the shipowner MEGHNA. The ceremony was attended by the godmother of the new vessel, Ms. Beauty Akther, as well as Mr. Mostafa Kamal, Chairman of MEGHNA Group, Mr. Sau Weng Tang, Senior Vice President of Lloyd's Register Greater China, Mr. Ioannis Koufalitakis, Director of Overseas Shipowner Business for Greater China, Mr. Li Yi, General Manager of the Central Region, and other leaders and guests. From YAMIC side, Mr. Song Shuming, General Manager, Mr. Koji Tamura, COO, Mr. HidekuniNebashi, CFO, Mr. Chen Guoqiang, Deputy General Manager, and Mr. Shinichi Nakao, General Manager Assistant, together attended this ceremony.
Ms. Beauty Akther christened the new vessel "MEGHNA PROGRESS", cut the ceremonial rope, and broke a bottle of champagne, sounded the vessel's horn, and wished the new vessel and its crew a safe journey with prosperity and wealth for the shipowner.
On behalf of the shipyard, Mr. Song Shuming delivered a speech stating that "MEGHNA PROGRESS" is the fourth wide-body Ultramax bulk carrier built by YAMIC for Meghna Group. The smooth delivery of this vessel is inseparable from the active cooperation and concerted efforts of all parties involved. Yangzi-Mitsubishi will continue to maintain international first-class shipbuilding quality standards, continuously improve customer satisfaction and YAMIC brand competitiveness, and build safer, more environmentally friendly, and higher-quality ships for our shipowners.
The "MEGHNA PROGRESS" started its steel-cutting in August 2022 and classified by LR. It is the sixth ship delivered by YAMIC this year and the fourth next-generation 66,000 DWT bulk carrier built for this buyer. With the collaborative efforts of shipowner's representatives, on-site construction supervision team, classification society site team and shipyard site team, the vessel was successfully completed and delivered. We gratefully acknowledge the support of all parties for this project.
At 8:30 am on May 31st, the "MEGHNA PROGRESS" departed from the YAMIC's dock for its maiden voyage. We wish the "MEGHNA PROGRESS" a successful journey with fair winds and following seas, bringing prosperity and wealth to all parties involved.
